Pete (aka The Advocate)
Greetings! If you are coming to this page, either your a fanatic (like myself and have read everything on this site) or are simply bored. Well then, allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Pete Tucker, I was born in 1976 and have been a devoted heavy metal fan since 1989. Early favorites included Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and the like. By 1991, I was looking for darker pastures and through magazines, friends and trades, I became a follower of the metal underground including bands like Death, Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Sepultura, Entombed, Carcass, and the list goes on into infinity. It wasn't until 1997 that I really discovered the whole black metal scene, of course, became obsessed with that. I have always been attracted to dark music and didn't realize it until later that I had been searching for this type of music for a while....the perfect "Halloween" soundtrack, if you will as I had always loved halloween horror soundtracks (the kind you might play in a window on Halloween) since I was a kid.
As I have grown older, I've really embraced any kind of music for the most part from stuff I was raised on (70's Rock, Outlaw Country, 80's Rock and Synth-Pop) to things I discovered on my own (Metal, Synthwave, Folk, Fantasy Soundtracks, Dark Ambient, Horror Soundtracks). I am an avid collector of vinyl, especially old rock, early thrash and black metal.
From 1993 - 2011, I also tried my hand at making music with my brother and various friends. You can listen to and even own some of that music on my bandcamp site. By 2011, I was diagnosed with tendonitis and making music no longer became a priority for me. That's around the time Proscriptor contacted me about creating a new ABSU website (read the whole story here). This way, I felt I was able to be connected to the music scene but without making music. Interestingly enough, this opportunity also gave me a chance to consult with other bands on their web presence including Zemial, Blood Storm and Nocturnus A.D. / After Death.
More recently, I created a Trilogie Worship page for Ulver.
When not obsessing about music and vinyl collections, I also study severe weather and historical storms. I am involved with my home town's Emergency Management team and do storm spotting, emergency ham radio communications, storm damage surveys and disaster mitigation/preparation. I also enjoy cooking, watching baseball, football and hockey, visiting abandoned places, true stories of paranormal/unexplained phenomena (or even a good creepypasta) and just being a dork, as my wife tells me.
